theaeolianmode-deactivated20120 asked: I'm having trouble deciding on a first mind palace. Having a great visual memory, I can recall almost every house that I've lived in to minute detail... and all of my best friends houses as well. I can access them perfectly, but when it comes to placing a memory, my brain can't decide which house to visit. Any advice? I have been really intrigued by your blog. :D
Pick the place that you feel most comfort in out of the lot. You place you feel most at home, the place (in the immortal words of Jamie T) where you are ‘relaxed enough to crap; I know it sounds crude by there’s something in that.’
Basically, your palace is yours, nobody else can ever go in there or see inside so the structure and the triggers really can anything at all, no restrictions.
Picking a place with a sense of emotional safety reinforces this, and in my opinion makes it easier to place triggers, as you never have to think about how weird it is to have, say, a naked actor sitting beside the urn of your great-grandmother’s ashes.
If you’re anything like me, you also might end up heading into your palace during times of emotional distress, so having that extra enforced layer of comfort is quite wonderful in those times, too. :)
This is the last one for now, everyone. Sorry if you’re still waiting. I’m absolutely exhausted.
